Good thing February is a short = month, because we are tired of it! We have faith that sunny, warm days are = just around the corner.  Leag= ue play starts on March 4th, so hopefully that's when spring will start too= . We have a kick-off scramble, aka the PFLGA Ladies' Follies, being held on= February 27th, with 20 ladies participating.  The PF ladies made a good showing at the February Calga e= vent held at Rivertowne on a nasty, windy, cold day, and the scores reflect= ed the weather so we won't repeat them here.  Congratulations to flight winners Barbara McGauhey (3rd lo= w net), Judy Tucker (1st low gross), Randy Van Name (2nd low gross), Barbar= a Karns (2nd low net), and Susan Gerdes (3rd low net).  Special congratulations to Nancy Zipter, who won= field low net.  We also repr= esented Pine Forest well at Stono Ferry for Palmetto, with Randy Van Name w= inning closest to the pin on #14 as well as low putts in her flight, and Ca= thy Brennan (1st low net), Judy Tucker (3rd low net) and Nancy Zipter (2nd = low net) all winning in their flights.&nb= sp; Pine Forest will be hosting Palmetto on March 23, so we hope the= course will be in good shape by then.&nb= sp; Thanks to all of the LGA ladies for their active participation i= n our events...we may need to sharpen our golf skills, but we sure have a g= ood time!

COUPLES GOLF

What a difference a we= ek makes!  We enjoyed an abso= lutely gorgeous February afternoon, whil= e the Saturday before everyone enjoyed a rare Summerville snowfall.  It was probably the nicest weather = of 2010 and greatly appreciated.  There was a relatively small group out, but we all had a fantastic tim= e.  We played a shortened cou= rse, men teeing off at 150 yards and women at 100 yards, due to the cart pa= th only restriction.  After p= lay we all feasted on a delicious lasagna dinner.  Cliff Zipter won the 50/50, so we don't have to liste= n to him complain about never winning for awhile.  Next month's event is March 20, with Mike Ross & the = Zipters hosting and if you have played in the past, you know that when the = Ross's host it may involve some yummy libations! The sign up sheet is in th= e pro shop, so come on out and have some fun with us!

SRMGA

The Februa= ry Tournament "3 Clubs Only" was played under very wet conditions both unde= r foot and above.  We had eight teams consisting of 28 players.  = The match had to be called after six holes due to heavy rain,  thunder= and lightning in the area.  Team "Dixon" with Al, Jerry O'Toole, and = Tony Riccitelli took first place with a minus four after six holes.  G= reat job guys!  We then all dried out for an early lunch of Bratwurst = subs, potato salad and desert.

Next month= we have two events.  The first is our normal tournament "3 Lads and a= Lass" to be held on March 9.  Don't forget to wear the GREENThe sign-up sheet is posted = in the pro shop.  The second event is a Member Only tournament "2 Man = Captains Choice" on March 24.  Pick your own partner and full handicap= net will determine the winning team.  So get on the lists...........M= arch will be a busy Month.

INTERCLUB

The match scheduled at Charleston Municipa= l scheduled for February 1st was cancelled due to the rains that= day. The reschedule of it on the 22nd of this month was also po= stponed due to rain. So the second match of the 2010 season was held at Cha= rleston National on Monday, February 15th on a very windy day. The course w= as in great condition considering the recent rains and snow and we were abl= e to drive the carts at 90 degrees. Berk= eley posted the best score with -2. Wescott was second with -6 just ed= ging out Rivertowne who had -7. The rest of the scores were: Miler -16= , Crowfield -19, Shadowmoss -23, Charleston Municipal -25, Charleston Natio= nal -25, Stono Ferry -28, Dunes West -32, Coosaw Creek -36, Legend Oaks&nbs= p;-38. Due to a death in the community; = the Pine Forest Team chose not to play so as to attend the memorial service= , and was disqualified and received zero points for the match.
