Putting Tips
I hope that all this rain isn\'t keeping you from golfing. If it is then, maybe a couple of putting tips can help you at least putt on the carpet or on our putting green when it is not raining. I included today a couple of my past tips that always can be of some help. Here is a couple of good thoughts and games you can think about and play.
My philosophy on putting is that you have to feel comfortable enough to have a feel for how hard to hit the ball and how to aim. Yes, mechanics and fundamentals are key in making putts, but putting, anyone can do. Take for instance miniature golf. All you do is putt the ball. In miniature golf they give you a putter and a ball and you play. How hard could it be? Right? Not so.......the hardest thing about putting is speed and distance and aim. You get lucky in miniature golf because of rails, humps and bumps and of course a windmill to get in the way of a hozel rocketed putt, a lucky bounce through the clowns mouth and "it\'s in the hole."
Feel is really important in knowing distance, so here is a great game to help develop feel. It is called Around the World. Take 6 golf balls and throw them around one of the holes on the putting green. Start out at about 6 feet and closer. Each putt is considered a two putt par. So, out of 6 balls if you count 12 strokes then you are par for the course. The goal is two putts or less. Start out at 6 feet and get longer and longer from the hole until you are challenged enough not to break par. Obviously, the the first putt should be close to the hole and the second in the cup. As you get farther from the hole you may think of a 3 foot basket around the hole and from there the putt may be a no brainer. Let\'s Hope! Work on it and let me know your comments.
Have a great week!
